Happy 60th Singing Telegram Photo Essay

One of the epiphanies that hit me as I Treaty Walk is that education is a treaty right.

Today, we celebrate our Vice Principal, Rod's 60th birthday. He's one of the main reasons we're able to be who we need to be in the lives of our students. Rod's taught at Bert Fox Community High School for thirtyish years, and in one way or another, he has been honouring treaty, even now into the second generation. He is always trying to get into the minds and hearts of kids, especially those sent to the office, trying to understand their stories, sharing stories of his own, and then helping us meet that kid where he or she is. His sense of humour, wisdom, humility, and bigger-than-life-personality is the heart-beat of our school.
